Genetically modified organisms, also known as GMO’s, have increasingly been in the news. In 2013, Washington state residents have particularly been exposed to coverage regarding the issue as voters consider whether to pass Initiative 522, which requires identification of genetically modfied foods on labels. For this week’s discussion, students will read an article about genetically modified organisms, look up two items in the GMO Compass, and watch a short (under three minutes) CNN video report, all related to the topic of GMOs.

The student will write a one- to two-page summary of the reading and and submit the work to the instructor via Canvas.
