Introduction

            Supply chain management also referred to as the value chain revolves around ensuring smooth processing of raw materials and low of raw materials all the way to their end-users or customers. With increased international trade activities between countries, it is imperative that people understand global supply chain management. Various articles have been written around this topic aimed at furnishing people with more information. This paper contains an annotated bibliography for five peer-reviewed articles on supply chain management.

Jangga, R., Ali, N., Ismail, M and Sahari, N. (2015). Effect of environmental uncertainty and           supply chain flexibility towards supply chain innovation: An exploratory study. Procedia Economics and Finance 31: 262-268

In their article, Jangga et al (2015) sought to establish the effects of environmental uncertainty and the flexibility of the supply chain towards supply chain innovation. The authors posit that supply chain management as a concept has continued to receive greater attention among organizations and academicians. Their exploratory study found out that environmental uncertainty affects organizational processes since they are forced to closely coordinate their activities or to reduce their reliance on inter-firm affiliations. While the article provides valuable insights on supply chain innovation, it falls short in providing in-depth information. The article also lacks empirical validation due to its nature of study, thus one cannot ascertain the aforementioned relationship. The article is important to my study, as it will provide me with information about supply chain innovation.

Liu, W., Bai, E., Liu, L. and Wei, W. (2017). A framework of sustainable service supply chain management: A literature review and research agenda. Sustainability, 9(421): 1-25

Liu et al. (2017) article is a good read that endeavors to explore sustainable supply chain management based on a sustainable development viewpoint after analyzing articles on sustainable supply chain management research. They further propose a sustainable operation framework in the service supply chain realm. The authors posit that different integrators, service providers and end users of a given service are interconnected. Having been submitted in 2016 and published in March 2017, the article is quite recent and in touch with the current occurrences. One limitation of this article is that it relies on secondary data, being a paper review article, thus cannot be empirically validated. The authors have written numerous articles on supply chain management making this article a credible one.

Banomyong, R. and Supatn, N. (2011). Supply Chain assessment tool development in Thailand: An SME perspective. An International Journal of Procurement Management, 4(3): 20-31

In this article, Banomyong and Supatn present a tool for assessing supply chain performance after carrying out extensive literature review. The tool is aimed at measuring the performance of crucial supply chain activities based on various performance dimensions such as reliability, time and cost. Banomyong and Supatn are renowned Thai academicians who have written numerous articles on logistics and supply chain management. Their article is well researched and presented in simple terms and in a detailed manner to the intended audience. Being a six-year-old article, the article is still relevant to the current supply chain management realm. The article will come in handy in my research by providing important dimensions of supply chain assessment.

The article is a good read that incorporates rigorous research and the use of diagrams and tables that allow one to understand it easily. It will furnish me with vital information on global supply chains. The authors have published numerous articles. They work as assistant professor excellence chairperson in their respectively universities. This makes the article a reliable source.

In their article, Park et al. (2015) begin by acknowledging the impacts of disruptions of supply chains on business survivals. The paper discusses the inter-connection between supply chain security practices, risk propensity and disruption occurrence. The authors posit that organizations that take the threat of supply chain disruption with the seriousness it deserves tend to invest in security initiatives. Data collection was confined to a single respondent or the target organizations, thus may not give a correct picture of the situation. However, the article is a good read that can furnish one with several insights about supply chain management. The authors are also good academicians from renowned American and Korean universities making the article to be credible.
