I chose my topic to be about child obesity. I feel that is becoming a bigger problem now. I’ve had three little cousins that I recently came in touch with that have had that problem. I have a 1 year old cousin that is diagnosed with cholesterol already and obesity I asked why at such a young age, then I see what she’s being fed and over feed her. I try to explain to my aunt that it will affect her more as she grows like being bullied and problems with her health. My other two cousins one is going through that growing stage and got in soccer and is healthy again. My last little cousin had that happen when she broke her hip and would just eat and not do anything. A lot of the issue has to do with the child being over fed and giving food whenever it wants sometimes you can’t do that and have to restrict the child from certain things and change of diet. sometimes giving your kid everything they want isn’t a good thing. Childhood obesity has both immediate and long-term effects on health and well-being. Some Immediate health effects are Obese youth are more likely to have risk factors for cardiovascular disease, such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure. In a population-based sample of 5 to 17year olds, 70% of obese youth had at least one risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Obese adolescents are more likely to have prediabetes, a condition in which blood glucose levels indicate a high risk for development of diabetes. Children who are obese are at greater risk for bone and joint problems, sleep apnea, and social and psychological problems such as stigmatization and poor self-esteem. Some Long-term health effects are children and adolescents who are obese are likely to be obese and are therefore more at risk for adult health problems such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke, several types of cancer. Overweight and obesity are associated with increased risk for many types of cancer, including cancer of the breast, colon, endometrium, esophagus, kidney, pancreas, gall bladder, thyroid, ovary and many more. some prevention are healthy lifestyle habits, including healthy eating and physical activity, can lower the risk of becoming obese and developing related diseases.
