History of Art

You will be required to do a short research paper on a work of art from the time periods and cultures the course covers, which you see in a visit to an area museum. No essays under 700 words will be accepted. You will submit the paper online as well as provide a hard copy. The paper is NOT OPTIONAL. Anyone who fails to transmit a paper online will receive a semester grade of INCOMPLETE or “F,” at the instructor’s discretion. Again, you must visit a museum (Metropolitan Museum of Art, Newark Museum, etc.) that have artwork relative to the periods and topics that are covered in the course. You will cite at least two books (NOT Stokstad) or articles you consulted in the essay with parenthetical citations and will have no more than one online citation. Parenthetical citations list the author and the page number in parenthesis at the end of the sentence and also include a list of works cited as a separate page after the essay.
