THE KEYWORD COMMUNITY AND IDENTITY

Storytelling: How do we, as people claim and narrate their own history and stories?

You can choose to be guided from our readings – Ta-Henisi Coates; Black Lives Matter (framing news), slavery as
curriculum, institutional history (Dirty Antebellum Secrets in Ivory Tower ), OR Hip-Hop Honeys; for example. Or write from your own understanding of the Keyword: Community. Feel free to incorporate other keywords too.

Be guided by the exercise in class today – what is the danger of a single story and how do you incorporate your personal story or community into the the essay?

Please also consider the two ted talks watched and discussed in class on Wed – October 26th.

Further Explanation of the Topic:

You are not writing a story – you are responding to the question of HOW people tell their stories – what the processes are, how community and other keywords fit in theoretically – also refer to the two videos posted. You may use a text we used in class as a base referral. Or multiple texts to illustrate your point. Think of how members in your communities tell stories / narrate their lives.

PLEASE USE THE KEYWORD COMMUNITY AND IDENTITY. ALSO PLEASE USE THE VIDEOS MOSTLY FOR THE ESSAY AND PLEASE MAKE SURE ITS 4 PAGES OR MORE AND MORE THEN 1100 WORDS. THANK YOU.
