Ensuring that one has the right skills for developing an effective resume is important because it sets the platform for an individual to describe their skills and potentials in addition to benefits that they can provide to the organization under consideration (Ashman, 2018).

            The three most common types of resumes include combination, functional, and chronological. The simples among these resumes are the chronological since it prioritizes on professional skills and achievements from the newest to the oldest. However, when one is writing this type of resume, they have to put into account description of positions, responsibilities, promotions and awards (Ashman, 2018). 

            A functional resume looks at the professional skills and experiences rather than ones’ work history. This type of resume is important to those who have the skills but they do not have experience to market their abilities to the hiring company. Besides, it can be used by those who want to change their careers or have not been working over a period of time and are seeking a new job as a way to show their strengths.

            The final third type is combination resume, which would be in most cases chronological and functional resumes. This is very important because it serves as a way of marketing skills and describing experiences, thus persuading the hiring company.

            From the above types of resumes, the most beneficial to me is combination resume because it enables me to show my experiences throughout my working career, while building on the skills that I already have (Bigfuture). Most companies want to see your experiences more than your skills. Therefore, adopting combination resume is beneficial because it shows your skills, experiences and achievements in your professional career (College Essay Guy). Besides, one is able to adjust their experiences to meet the demand of the opportunity at hand.
